Buy Hotpoint / Creda carbon brushes (prices recently reduced)
You can buy the old black Hotpoint & Creda carbon brushes directly from Washerhelp. This type of carbon brush fits fairly old models but there are still quite a few around. Hotpoint brushes
The laminated brushes are the same as the black ones only a little thicker and more hard wearing. They were fitted to later Hotpoint & Creda washing machines but are still quite old now. Laminated Hotpoint / Creda brushes
The later Hotpoint carbon brushes are the FTP type.
Washerhelp doesn't supply this type directly but they can be found on 4Washerhelp - buy FHP type carbon brushes (goes to external site 4Washerhelp spares)

Spare parts pitfalls to avoid
Avoid common washing machine spare part pitfalls. This section looks at how even having the right model and serial number may not be enough to locate the correct parts.
Finding the right washing machine part isn't always straight forward and is fraught with complications. Even people (like myself) who've been in the trade for decades have great difficulty identifying the right part at times.
Some manufacturers make it very hard. For example many manufacturers fit 3 or 4 totally different parts to a washing machine with the same specific model number. This means knowing the part, make and model number alone is not enough, other numbers (not necessarily serial numbers) are needed to get the right spare.
Topics covered -
- Manufacturers often fit different versions of parts to exactly the same model
- Some manufacturers put a model number on the front of the machine which is no good for locating spare parts
